Sheila L. Lawton's work has been described as a
"steady recklessness which somehow creates a
striking sense of balance". The artist characterizes
her creativity as "a highly intuitive and spiritual
process" as she literally sits down with a
rapidograph technical india ink pen or paintbrush
and a paper or canvas and begins a line which
goes and goes until the full picture appears. She
has no idea what it will be until she lifts the pen,
sometimes only once or twice.
Sheila is the 5th child of 7 whose parents were
born in Vienna, Austria (father) and Antwerp,
Belgium (mother). She learned early the value of a
simple life and believes in the idea of living simply
so that others may simply live.
Born July 7, 1957
